OT - a fragile stability achieved
We have been at the clinic or the hospital 4 days out of 5 this week. DH's
labs are finally stabilized, the swelling has stopped getting bigger, and I think they have achieved the right combination of meds. now. Bob and I both slept a lot last night, which says something in itself. In looking back I believe the doctors will never admit what caused it because they are so scared of lawsuits nowadays. That's okay, I just want them to learn from it. I believe that when the cardiologists put him back on his blood thinner after his surgery they never should have put him on pills and a daily shot, both. I know this is supposed to work great for most people, but he has this recent history in Jan. Then when the swelling began at the surgery site in his leg, his primary put him on antibiotic because he can't risk any infection. The antibiotic thins your blood. His pain was intense, so he put him on codeine. Codeine thins your blood. He didn't know all that supposedly, and I even asked the pharmacist before I paid for these two drugs. But cardiology knows it, and when the primary sent us back to him, we started getting things back in order. The antibiotic was stopped immediately, and the codeine is being diminished gradually. He was on a high dose of this narcotic for 10 days, and can not just stop taking it like that. I finished a wholecloth wuh that I found in my basket one day during a period of relative calm. And then yesterday I made another star for the wedding quilt. Today I'm thinking I might clean the bathroom. So you can see that even during all this, I still have my priorities right. I will start teaching piano again on Monday and see how that goes. We're tired, I still have my hands full helping this man with the leg that looks like a blimp, but for the first time in all this, I feel like we are sort of safe now. And you guys have be great. I'm so happy to hear things are turning around for you guys. Hope things
continue to get better & that the leg swelling goes down. Sounds like you both finally had a good nights rest.
