Mounting Nautical Charts

I've got some nautical charts I'd like to hang on the wall. I can
envision using a spray adhesive to mount them on foam board. How should
I protect the surface? Is there something to use that won't discolor
them much?

Is there a better way? (Short of sending them out for lamination.)

Are you planning to frame them?

The spray adhesive is okay if you aren't ever
going to need to dismount them. And you have
worked with it before. It's not forgiving of
mistakes and large clumsy pieces of paper that
are hard to work with may end up a disaster.

But here is what I'd do, and it doesn't matter
if you use a frame or not. Get two pieces of
plexiglass, available at very reasonable cost
at any builder supply outlet like Lowes or
Home Depot (assuming you live in the USA) and
sandwich the charts between two sheets. It's
easy to cut with a "boxcutter" type knife by
scoring and then breaking over a straight table
edge. Or most of those places will cut it to
size for you, if you have the patience to find
a stock person to do it! Cut it oversize to
accomodate drilled holes for hanging.

If you frame, then just do it as conventional
paper products have always been framed, using
the plexiglass instead of regular breakable glass.
