I was sure that Seanette was exagerating...wow, do I owe her an apology! If I ever post over there, I think I'll need a new persona so I won't get blacklisted as a rude "needle stabber!" Sheesh! I'd advise just staying here in RCTN. Plenty of yarn experts [Karen comes immediately to mind] and you don't have to join the Church of Mirjam. :-) She`s kept very quiet lately, hasn`t she? Do you reckon we`ve finally worked the miracle and she`s disappeared in a puff of smoke? Pat P |

Shouldn't that be the "Temple of Mirjam"? EJ Probably - right on top of her mountain, of course, so we all have to crawl up on hands and knees to worship! Pat P |

"Seanette Blaylock" wrote in message ... wd (Caryn) had some very interesting things to say about OT rcty: It does make me wonder why mirjam has picked rctn for her fights1 Because it gives her a way to feel personally persecuted? And then she can go cry on the shoulders of her friends at rcty with how mean we are to her, therefore gaining attention from both groups? I think you're right, having long ago noticed that if there isn't a current battle she's in the middle of, fanning flames and so on, she'll start one to get attention. For someone who has to be pushing 70, seems a tad childish to me. [She'd have to be that old to remember the Holocaust as she claims to.] I believe she`s in her late fifties or early sixties. Now I`m "pushing 70" (well, 69 in July) and I remember the holocaust, and any children in the cinema being made to wait in the lobby when the newsreels were on (most of us peeped through the curtains anyway!). (Lynne M.) had some very interesting things to say about OT rcty: some form of stitching. Anyway, I used to be a big crocheter myself, but don't yet know how to knit. I like regular embroidery and cross-stitch and even felt applique. I like felt applique myself [my next Nativity scene is a Bucilla stocking kit :-)]. I always feel a bit like felt applique would be sort of lower-class compared to all the exquisite stuff that people are working on, but darn it, I like it. In fact, I am working on a design for a felt applique Advent calendar. Problem is, I can't draw worth a lick but can see what this should look like. And I am fussy about my Advent calendars because I lived in Germany for awhile as a kid and got used to these old-fashioned pictures. The sequining is a pain on the felt kits but sure looks pretty when you are done. Felt is fun! Lynne |

Hi, Lynne! (my middle name, btw!) I've done some crochet - my mother taught me how years ago - but for whatever reason, I could never keep my gague even and I can with knitting. I should probably pick it up and try it again one of these days. I'm pretty ordinary too - I am continually amazed at the folks who can put together such gorgeous patterns or just free-form something the way some people do. I'd like to be one of those people one of these days . . . Carrie My mom taught me all kinds of basic stitching, but a friend taught me how to crochet when we were switchboard operators many years ago (showing my age, there). Even though she was right-handed and I am left-handed, I managed to get the basics with her patient help. Taught my daughter -- a rightie -- how to crochet, so the loop start continues... Lynne |

Alright, I used to watch Dr. Who but didn't love it as much as others. I
used to love The Goodies and Rising Damp - the two shows on PBS after Dr. Who. I loved the Goodies!! Wish they'd put those out on DVD, because I'd but those in a heartbeat. I've done some crochet - my mother taught me how years ago - but for
whatever reason, I could never keep my gague even and I can with knitting. Carrie, I learned to knit first, then crochet, and I found that I kept holding the tension for crochet the same as I did for knitting. This really messed up my crochet projects, everything looked wavy and waffly. Finally figured out that you hold the yarn in a completely different way, different amount of tension. Now both knitting and crochet come out flat! lol caryn Blue Wizard Designs http://hometown.aol.com/crzy4xst/index.html Updated: 7/7/03 -- now available Dragon of the Stars View WIPs at: http://community.webshots.com/user/carynlws (Caryn's UFO's) |
