Problem with bobbin gear
I have a problem with my 1971 Singer Stylist Zig-Zag Sewing Machine, Model
413 that brought everything to a screeching halt. It jammed as I was making a new bed for my dog. I think the Velcro did it in! Everything jammed up and I had to cut the wad of thread loose from the bobbin area. When I re-threaded the machine and tried to raise the bobbin thread through the needle hole in the slide plate nothing happened. I opened the slide plate and discovered the silver disk under the bobbin case don't move when I turn the hand wheel. I took off the bottom of the machine and found half a yellow/brown gear laying there. Does anyone have a website that would show pictures of Singer gears. I went to the Singer website and couldn't find the right gear. I thought of buying a new machine but this one has been good since I bought it new and I don't need a fancy machine. All I use it for is home upholstery and curtain projects. It needs to be strong enough to go through several thicknesses of fabric and this one has always done that. If I can't find a part for it does anyone have suggestions for new machines that would work for this purpose? I think my machine has been running on borrowed time for several years. The foot peddle gets quite hot on my foot while I'm sewing, the needle doesn't stop when I am winding thread on the bobbin and one of the spool pins have broken off. LOL! Stuck with so much to do...TIA |

there is a model 413 on this page, but don't know if this is the gear that you need. Maine-iac Rose @--- remove the thorns and add a hyphen between the 2 words to email me.
