One thing nobody seems to have addressed is; if you are speaking to a

And why do we have to explain?

I love them - the rest of family won't eat them. Some time I have to try
this recipe for them shredded with a "butter curry".

My parents love them, I can't stand them. At one point, they were reheated and
put on my plate every meal (including breakfast) for a couple days, until the
point was finally made that I was not, no way, ever in this lifetime going to
finish my serving of vegetables. Dad called it "wasting food" and Mom called
it "more for me!" Since Mom was in charge of the cooking, Mom simply made sure
that I got some other veggie those nights. It was one of the few foods that I
was allowed to refuse to eat.

BTW, Mom thanks you for your butter curry recipe. She says the raisins sound
like an interesting addition.

It's not original to me - part is from a cookbook read in the dark past,
some from a cabbage dish I ate at an Indian place, part just fun. I've had a
butter chicken curry that was fabulous. The shredded sprouts was from yet
another recipe. I left poppy seeds out of that one.

Here's something you might like though.
Chop one onion to a medium dice, fry in butter to just clear. Toss in
raisins and cook until plumbed. Add curry powder to taste and stir until
fragrant. Stir in left over white or brown rice and a little water or broth.

Really good if you use a dried fruit mix - I have one with currants, golden
and brown raisins, dried blueberries and dried cranberries.
