Jewelry school
Alot of people say that the Paris jewelry school is the best in the
nation. If that is the case I would hate to see the worst. The reason I say this is because I graduated from there several years ago. Upon graduation I looked for jobs all through the state of Texas and Oklahoma and the best job I could find as a recent graduate was about 8 to 9 bucks an hour. I ended up having to go into management just so I could feed my family. They say that most of the grads get good jobs but they fail to mention that as much as half of them have families who are already in the business. If my mother or father had a jewelry store I am sure they would pay me well. Get my drift! Plus when you take into account how much it cost. Tools, room and board tuition, etc. Check it out and you will see my point. If you really want to be a jeweler my advice is to save your money and instead try to find someone to apprentice under. If you are wondering if I'm still in the business NO! Thats the other thing. After training a new employee ( a foriegner) to do the same job as I had who was working for half of what I was making, I was let go. Most store owners that I have worked for have been crooks of some sort. In closing if you do decide to go to TIJT make sure you get a degree in something else or you may be sorry. ( Unless your mommy or daddy has a store ) |
