And of course, always the fun of studs for their shoes for really bad snow. If you move in the summer, their bodies will adjust as the temps change. Thanks for the info, ladies! The OTTB is 5 and the Arab is 18. The TB, 'Miles', was a rescue and didn't really have enough time before winter hit to develop a good coat, so I've babied him and give him a lot of hay in his comfy stall at night to keep him busy and warm, and his coat is coming right along. He's really sensitive so I try to be mindful. The arab has a great winter coat, thankfully. The tip about walking them dry if wet under the pad is a good one, thanks for reminding me. We have only ridden a couple of times since it's been so cold. Thanks again! Rhonda |

We have only ridden a couple of times since it's been so cold. Thanks again! You're welcome! I'm hoping to be able to ride mine again next summer. Last winter she lost a *lot* of weight, which you couldn't really see until she shed out. Turned out she had some teeth problems I hadn't noticed, since DD's been the one riding her the last few years. I gave her a year off from any real exercise and have been supplementing her feed since then. She's had a lot of pep this winter (actually *galloping* when called for supper!), so I think things are looking up! ))) -- Joan See my first-ever design he http://www.heritageshoppe.com/joan.jpg "Stitch when you are young and poor, frame when you are old and rich." - Elizabeth's (rctn'r) sister's MIL (Barbara Marr) |
