Default OT Are you on Holiday.

In the UK Easter Monday is a Bank (official) holiday. Suddenly
wondered if everyone else was on holiday too or is the rest of the
world at work.

We also changed our clocks to Summertime (forward an hour) yesterday
so I'm still half asleep trying to adjust - and why is there always
one clock you forget - and its always something vital like hot water!

Easter Monday is a regular work day here in the
USA. We don't have Bank Holidays anyhow. We have
Federal Holidays though. We will turn the clocks
ahead next weekend. You are right about missing at
least one clock!

DD is off for school break this week. They call it spring break
though. Grade schoolers seem to have had last week off here
in my neighborhood.
DH works for the state of CA and doesn't get a Easter
holiday. He does get Cesar Chavez day on Thursday though. (he
was a farm worker union organizer, new holiday) If you all wonder
why the state is in financial trouble.....

The grade schools have different breaks then middle/high school? That must
make planning family events difficult. Or maybe the kids had the
standardized testing that week? My kids had half days a few weeks ago
because of testing. They are in high school, having now reached "hairy
legger" status! I now know, first hand, what Sarah was talking about when
she referred to her twins this way!! My twins are now 16. Hard to believe.

I have a "snow day" today. We have the day off from school because we
didn't use any snow days this year. If we had used a day, we would
have school today.

We change the clocks next week, I think.

Whew! Thank goodness! I read this and panicked that I had 9 minutes to
be at work!

This isn't a holiday in US but since many of the people my husband
works with are in the London office he knows work will be slow today.

The wonders of the internet. He used to have to visit the offices
around the world but he doesn't even go to New York City anymore. The
news media makes it sound like business travel is down because of 911
or the economy. Really it is the use of internet and telephone
conferences. Every Tuesday Dave has a conference call with other
mathematicians all over the world. It is a tough time for some of them
but they all know that it helps keep them on the same page in their
work so they make the effort to be by a telephone at the right time.
This message has gotten a bit off track from your original comment on
the holiday. Sorry but your question reminded me of the changes in the
international workplace.

It's a holiday down here. Always has been that I can remember.

Those in the eastern states changed their clocks back to real time this
weekend. We in the West just stay on real time all the time, so it's no
different.

This is the last day of my kids' Spring Break school holiday. They were off
all last week. DH is not off, tho.

Our spring break for schools was last week, while I was away. Today
isn't a holiday, and next Sunday when I change the clocks I'll be
waiting to see which one(s) I forget! G
