Hi Peggy, I have a Bernina 1200DA. A Serger is so totally different from a
sewing machine that for me it has a very large learning curve. That said it
just adds to the sewing experience for me. The speed and great stitch sold
me on it. You can't go wrong with a Bernina. Go to a dealer and test drive
one. Ask all your questions. Most dealers offer classes with your
purchase. Good luck.

I have a Benina 334DS. It is over 10 years old and it has been
a great machine. The classes do help too. You know lots
of areas have continuing education classes in sewing and they
have sergers you can learn to use and try out. Might be a good
way to learn how much you could use one. If you do much in the
way of clothing construction they are wonderful!
