Default Knitting and Stitching show (and meeting new friends)

I had a great day on Saturday, when I went to the Knitting and Stitching
show at Alexandra Palace in London. It's just huuuge. Acres of retail
opportunities, and some amazing exhibitions. And I met up for lunch with
Ray Almond and her husband. Actually there was probably less lunch than
chat, and her poor husband looked worn out just listening. Mind you he had
traipsed around Ally Pally for about 3 1/2 hours before lunch, so he was
entitled to look worn out.

I really enjoyed just wandering around looking at stuff first, but then
decided that if I was going to buy anything I'd better start. So....1)
enough Elle DK in 3 colours for a domino knit knee rug for my neighbour, who
has arthritis, for Christmas (dusky denim blue, dusky crushed raspberry and
light leaf green) So far 1 row of squares done, only another 9 to do + the
edging. 2) Enough brown Aran for a wonderful wallaby for a godson, 3)
enough Aran colour Aran for either a wonderful wallaby for a friend's little
girl, and 4) enough royal blue & multi colour DK for a jumper for somebody
else. 5) Plus tatting thread and a shuttle, for after Christmas, when I'm
temporarily knitted out!! 6,7,8, etc) Plus several books and magazines. It
was fun getting back on the coach, I kept hitting people with all my bags,
but nobody minded, aren't crafty people nice?!

It was a really good day, and boy did I sleep well!! Still at least it
tested out the hip, which apart from feeling a bit stiff on Sunday was
absolutely fine. Can't wait till next year. My sister just went to Lisbon
and tells me there's a whole street of craft shops: we're planning when we
can go, shame my Portuguese is non existent! I'll keep you informed
