Default Kerry is no friend of the middle class

This Ketchup chugging self described war criminal may have earned his
"red wings" on Teresa Heines, but he's no here to the middle class.

Top Ten Reasons John Kerry is Wrong for Colorado

"John Kerry's pessimism and misery tour ignores the reality that the
President's pro-growth policies have helped create 1.4 million jobs
over the past nine months."

-Danny Diaz, Bush-Cheney '04 Spokesman

1. JOHN KERRY IS NO FRIEND OF THE MIDDLE CLASS
Kerry Sponsored And Voted For A Motion To Kill Marriage Penalty Relief
For Couples Earning Less Than $50,000 Per Year. In 1995, Kerry voted
for a resolution that said middle class tax cuts were not wise. "The
sense of the Senate amendment, killed on a motion by Sen. Orrin Hatch
(R-UT), said, "reducing the deficit should be one of the nation's
highest priorities, and that a middle-class tax cut would undermine
and be inconsistent with the goal of achieving a balanced budget."

2. AGAINST WEAPONS SYSTEMS THAT PROVIDE COLORADO JOBS
Kerry Voted Against Funding the Joint Strike Fighter At Least Two
Times In 1996.
Ball Aerospace produces the Communications, Navigation and Integration
(CNI) Integrated Body Antenna Suite for the Joint Strike Fighter. As
of 2004, there were 2,505 employees working for Ball Aerospace.
Workers involved in JSF located in Boulder, Broomfield and
Westminster, CO. (Ball Aerospace Site, www.ballaerospace.com, Accessed
3/10/04)

3. VOTING FOR HIGHER TAXES
Kerry Voted Against President Bush's Historic Middle Class Tax Cuts In
2001 And 2003. The tax cuts Kerry opposed have directly benefited
Colorado: more than 1.7 million taxpayers in Colorado have seen their
income tax bills reduced. More than 470,000 small business taxpayers
in Colorado have additional tax savings to invest in new equipment,
expand facilities and hire additional workers. More than 565,000
married couples in Colorado are benefiting from marriage penalty
relief. 410,000 families in Colorado have benefited from the increase
in the child tax credit from $600 to $1,000. (U.S. Treasury
Department, "The Economic Growth And Tax Relief Reconciliation Act Of
2001 & The Jobs And Growth Tax Relief Reconciliation Act Of 2003 Will
Provide Benefits To More Than 1.7 Million Colorado Taxpayers," Press
Release, 4/1/04)

4. HURTING SMALL BUSINESSES
Kerry's Tax Hikes Would Cripple Small Businesses. "91 percent [of
small businesses] pay personal rather than corporate income taxes."
(Raymond J. Keating, Op-Ed, "A Good Year," The Pittsburgh
Post-Gazette, 1/6/04) Over 97 percent of Colorado businesses are
small. ("2003 State Small Business Profile: Colorado," Small Business
Administration Office Of Advocacy Website, www.sba.gov/advo, Accessed
3/23/04) In 2000, small businesses employed more than half of
Colorado's workforce. ("2003 State Small Business Profile: Colorado,"
Small Business Administration Office Of Advocacy Website,
www.sba.gov/advo, Accessed 3/23/04) Between 1999 and 2000, small
businesses added 55 percent of new jobs in Colorado. "Between 1999 and
2000, small businesses added a net total of 49,058 employees; they
represented 55 percent of net non-farm employment change in the
state." ("2003 State Small Business Profile: Colorado," Small Business
Administration Office Of Advocacy Website, www.sba.gov/advo, Accessed
3/23/04)

5. RETREATING ON EDUCATION REFORM
In a 2001 Senate Speech, Kerry Called No Child Left Behind
"Groundbreaking Legislation That Enhances … Commitment To Our Nation's
Public Education System." Now, Kerry criticizes No Child Left Behind
as under-funded, despite the fact that President Bush's 2005 budget
represents a 48 percent increase for elementary and secondary
education since 2001. According to the Department of Education, as of
December 11, 2003, a total of nearly $6 billion in federal education
funds remained unspent, waiting to be drawn down by state officials.

6. HIGHER TAXES ON SOCIAL SECURITY
Kerry Has Voted For Higher Taxes On Social Security Benefits At Least
Eight Times. He also voted to increase taxes on seniors making as
little as $34,000 per year. Seniors make up 9.7 percent of Colorado's
population. (U.S. Census Website, www.census.gov, Accessed 3/15/04)

7. TROUBLING RECORD ON NATIONAL SECURITY
Kerry Would Replace The Patriot Act That Is Keeping America Safe.
Kerry has said, "So it is time to end the era of John Ashcroft. That
starts with replacing the Patriot Act with a new law that protects our
people and our liberties at the same time." (Remarks By Senator John
Kerry, Iowa State University,
http://www.johnkerry.com/pressroom/s...2003_1201.html,
Accessed 3/11/04) Kerry voted against the $87 billion Iraq
supplemental. These funds provided body armor and other force
protection measures such as armored Humvees, as well as health care
for reservists, support for families and meals for injured soldiers.

8. OUT OF TOUCH WITH COLORADO VALUES
Kerry Supports Partial-Birth Abortion And Has Voted At Least Six Times
Against Banning The Procedure. Recently, Kerry was rated the "most
liberal" member of Congress. (Helen Dewar and Dan Balz, "Kerry's 19
Years In Senate Invite Scrutiny," The Washington Post, 2/8/04;
National Journal Website, "How They Measured Up,"
http://nationaljournal.com, 2/27/04)

9. NOT VOTING ON PRESCRIPTION DRUGS
Kerry Missed 36 Of 38 Votes On Medicare Reform And Prescription Drug
Benefit, Including Final Passage Of Bill.

10. WRONG ON HEALTHY FORESTS INITIATIVE
Kerry Is Opposed To Healthy Forests Legislation And Missed The Vote.
Colorado Senators Wayne Allard and Ben Nighthorse Campbell voted for
Healthy Forests.
