This may be just as impossible as herding cats - but could we get back to
the question? She asked how long it took before the flannel quit shedding. I've seen some very cuddly, soft, lovely raggedy flannel quilts. It just was not meant to be with mine. It has been just a few weeks since I lost the flannel battle and no one here stepped forward with surefire successful guidance. I meant it as I would use it in the US. It wasn't until I saw the subject line that I realized that the meaning to me wouldn't be the same meaning in the UK or elsewhere. Since it is an international group of adults, I still figured that most would think it is something that got jumbled in translation, not a rude subject line. BTW, what DO you call these quilts in the UK? We call them shag here. I'll change the subject line so this discussion can die but, really, I meant no offense. That's REALLY what we call it. Giselle |

The washer has a filter? I've heard rumors like that but I have no idea where it is. Oh oh. Some washers have lint filters that you can clean yourself. Our old Maytag had one beneath the fabric softener cup in the agitator. It was easy to clean every load or so. That's the washer I used when I did my raggedy quilt. I cleaned the filter several times while the quilt was washing. I don't think I got an extraordinary amount of lint in the dryer filter. The newer Maytags don't have the removable, easy to clean, lint filter. Supposedly they have been redesigned so they don't need the clean-it-yourself filter. I've most commonly seen them as rag or ragg quilts. I didn't see anything wrong with
your subject line, though it gave me a giggle. -- Jalynne - Keeper of the Quilt for ME club list Queen Gypsy (snail mail available upon request) see what i've been up to at www.100megsfree4.com/jalynne "Violet "F'loonslayer" Volfie" wrote in message ... Polly How long were the ends that you clipped before you fuzzed them up? (I'm going to try and never say that s-word again even though that's what *I* call it. Gads.) I was wondering if the fringes were too long if it took longer for them to shred off? Maybe they should only be 1/2" long or so? Mine are 1". The best shaggy quilt tip I ever got was to make the seam allowances only 1/2"
instead of the more common 3/4". The result is a lovely "chenille" appearance, instead of thready. Also, less thread in the washer/dryer! The Blessed Fiddy, Patroness Saint of the Disorganized LC in Sunny So Cal Personality Development Specialist (Full-Time Mom!) |

Supposedly they have been redesigned so they don't need the clean-it-yourself filter. Yeah, right. It was over a 100 hundred dollar repair bill for our new Kenmore when I washed a raggedy flannel quilt. joan (p.s.
