Pictures of my lap afghan & doll

OK ... here's pictures of the lap afghan so far ... and you can see in the other pictures, what I mean by the tied off ends along the edge. I included a few pictures of the 'after surgery' doll I made for my sister ... just a simple thing for her to squeeze when she's in pain. LOL Pictures: http://home.twcny.rr.com/kittykatz/one.html Scroll down for link to doll ... Hugs, Dee "Dee Dee" wrote in message ... Morning guys ... Feeling a bit better and thought I'd jump in with a quick question: I've been working on a lap afghan, and using a few different colors ... so I've had to start & stop quite a few times .. the result is many tied off ends on the sides. I've not made an afghan before, so I'm not sure how to 'finish' the sides. Do I tuck under twice and make a seam ... do I crochet around the whole thing ... or just the sides? It seems no matter what I do (except the seam thing), it will look messy and not really 'finished' nicely. :-( Any and all suggestions welcomed! On a side note: I stopped to make my sister a 'after surgery' doll, crocheted with the brown yarn. It's crocheted in one piece .... no sewing. LOL .. it's quite funny, will have to take a picture. Talk soon! Hugs, Dee PS: surgery may be coming soon. UGH! Great color scheme Dee. Hugs & God bless, Dennis & Gail |

Question: How do you finish up sides of afghan?
Dee.
With all the baby blankets and lap afghans I've made myself over the years I always crochet around the edges after finishing the last row. This has always worked with my stripped ones too. Just pic the color you want to stand out most and crochet around the edges. Jenn in CA - not Nora - but this works for me after 16 years of crochet. |

Jenn, I hope I didn't offend you or hurt your feelings by saying that Nora is the afghan expert. I know that a lot of other people on RCTY make afghans too... it's just that Nora makes a slew of them every month and we get to see hers in her photoalbum. ) Gemini |

I just happened to say in my original response that I hadn't done a striped afghan in so many years that I couldn't remember how I had finished it up the sides, and I said (in passing) that Nora was our resident afghan expert because of how many she makes each month. I only made that comment above to Jenn because after her signature she added "- not Nora - but this works for me after 16 years of crochet.". Nothing was meant by my original comment about Nora being an afghan expert, nor was it implied that anyone needs to be an expert to respond or give advise. It was a simple comment. Gemini |
