They will send one on request, or (last I heard) you could pick one up at their office on Vassar just west of Kietzke. (I still think of them as "Nevada Bell.") Thanks for that info. I'll be down that way tomorrow, so I'll stop in. Wonder why nobody has told me about that place before . . . . ? There is a second, non-telephone-company, directory around, too. They will give those to anyone who will take one, and left them on people's porches/stoops last spring, I think. I do have one of those! I guess I should use it! You can also use the on-line yellow pages at http://www.theultimates.com/yellow/ I've used online yellow pages before, but your suggestion is much better. Enjoy your break! I never taught elementary school, only high school and college. I miss those long summer breaks! What did you teach? I've taught middle school, junior high, and high school too. Even adults. I'm using my break to visit local middle schools to see how math is taught there these days. I've been here only a couple of years, so I'd like to find out what concept of middle schools is used here. So maybe next Spring I'll apply for a transfer. Then I'll be back to those long summers. I sure used to get lots of sewing done in those days. It's amazing how sewing is so mathematcial -- especially patchwork. And I know exactly how long 5/8" is! Oooooooh, I went to that Wild Moon place. No wonder you said "What!?!" when I said there were so few fabric spots here. That place is amazing. That was better than chocolate. I was overwhelmed. The old quilts on display were my favorite part of my visit. I'll go back! Nothing is better than chocolate. Nothing. Glad you enjoyed Windy Moon. I think it's a great shop, and it has been very successful, too. That says something about meeting the needs of an area. I've taught Spanish in high school and beginning classes in college (T.A.), and my favorite was the few years here that I subbed at Washoe High - the Alt. Ed. school. I did regular and adult high school, and ESL. The administration changed after I left - from Hager to the principal and assistant principals, so I don't know that it's still the great school it was. I've heard some things that indicate that it might not be. I subbed one day at a middle school and decided that I think I would rather drink Drano. ;-) -- Joanne http://members.tripod.com/~bernardschopen/ Life is about the journey, not about the destination. |
