Default Kingspin

I became the proud owner of some pottery tools called Kingspin. The
devices are about 6 inches tall and have a round plate on top and
bottom. they are hooked together by a pedestal that separates in the
middle. ????????????? what are they for.

Sounds as though you have some turntables (that's what we call them in Oz
anyway). They are generally used for decorating pottery pieces - the pot is
placed on the top, and rotated while the decoration is applied. They can
have other uses.

Cheers

They're also called banding wheels. I use the potter's wheel for such
decorations, but these do have the advantage of lifting up a pot so you
can see (and paint bands or handbrush decoration) the sides of the pot
you're working on.
