Default Taking a break

I've finished the main quilting and the background quilting on Halloween II:
The Sequel. I'm taking a break from it while I figure out what to do on the
border. And while I figure out what to make for dinner!

The quilt is a modified split-rail, with large rectangle blocks of Halloween
fabrics with a strip of bright pumpkin orange along one side, making a
square. These are set in a zig zag, Streak of Lightening set variation. I
ignored the block layout for the quilting, and quilted 2 large skeletons in
white thread, with black stippling for the background. Spike and Giles were
my life-size models for the skeletons, so I made sure I labeled who was who
with quilting stitches.

I'm thinking of doing bones along the border, but I haven't quite decided
yet. I want something fast and easy, cuz I'd like to have this done in time
to take to guild meeting tomorrow evening, and I still have to bind it.

Wendy:
Bones would remind me of a dog quilt. How about Bats? SUrely
somewhere on line there is a Continuous Line Bats pattern.
Question: What is measurement of the block? Measurement of each
rectangle and each square? TIA!

Soon, I hope. But, it might not be until after Halloween. We'll have lots of
pictures to put on web pages then.

I did think of bats, but the ears are tricky. I also thought about quilting
in the words to the song The knee bone's connected to the leg bone... or
whatever it is!

The block is cut 5" x 4", then the orange strips are cut 1.5", to make the
block finish to 4.5". It's an odd size, but since I started out with 10"
squares and wanted to get the most blocks from each square, and knew I
needed to add an inch strip to each rectangle... well, it just worked out
best this size! I took the fabrics I had the most of and used them down the
center of the quilt, and filled in with smaller amounts on the edges. Since
your skeleton fabric was similar to mine, I used them together, treating
them as the same fabric, and it looks pretty cool!
