(I know just what you mean about DD's room....my DD's room is a black
hole.)

When dd was in her teens, she complained about the bedroom carpet. We
told her that if ever we actually SAW the carpet, we would get her a new
one. The next time I saw that carpet was after she got married and
moved away. (And dh and I cleaned the room).

I suppose you could always take photographs of the room in its "black
hole" state and threaten to publicise them at some unspecified time in
the future. I still have a hit squad looking for any release of
photographs of myself aged about four wearing a knitted woolen bathing
suit with a penguin motif....

Quick, organize a whip round. If we came up with a bundle of really nice
stash maybe Maureen could post the darling picture to RCTNP.
