Default My first Ohio Star (doin' the RCTQ shuffle)

Just completed sewing on the label for MIL's lap quilt. This was definitely
a speed quilt for me as I had it done in a week. It is the Ohio Star
pattern but my version of it as I used up bits of fabric that I had. The
directions I had called for three colours but I didn't have enough so I
introduced a fourth colour, the light blue.

Of course I managed to get some of my pansy fabric into it as well and that
of course just 'makes' the quilt!

I found the binding went on sooo much better this time. Followed the advice
I'd read on here about measuring the middle of the quilts and cutting the
binding to match and easing the quilt into it. Had no problem what-so-ever.
I even hand sewed it down (gasp). Perhaps not the smartest thing to do -
sitting in 85' weather with a quilt over your lap but what the heck.

Click below for a picture of the label and quilt. I originally digitized
the label for my DD quilt and decided to use it as my signature label just
changing the wording as needed. Oh, you will get a peek at parts of DH too
;-)

Now as soon as it cools off a bit I'll bring out the queen size to finish
quilting.

Hi Jennifer,

I managed to end up with 2 accounts at Webshots and then tried to move all
the pics back into one. I'll send you pics when I get home from work
tonight. I'll be posting the next picture of the pansy chain that shows how
I finally bordered (sp?) it too. Sort of a compromise design :-)

Hi Shauna, I'd like to see your new quilt too but there isn't a picture
for me - even your pansies have gone away. Your Dad's quilt is still
visible though - the dragon isn't there either. Jpeg me if you like,
same as before - please?
Glad that your vacation was so pleasant.

Thanks for the photos! It's a pretty quilt, and the label is a great idea. I
really like the colors in your Irish chain!

That's great, Shawn! And quit apologizing for not doing it "right"! Your
Ohio Star is just perfect!

It's amazing what a color change will do for a pattern, Shawn! This
looks like a completely different pattern, and it's really nice. The
label is great, too.
