Default OT - Surgery

For those of you who knkow me and are wondering what happened, my auto
accident is filling my life right now. The spine doctor is recommending neck
surgery because my headaches are constant. I can only relieve them by
drugging out and sleeping. Not a life....

Surgery is scheduled for the end of November. I wish I didn't have to wait
so long, but they will let me know if something opens up. Next week I will
be going to a deposition addressing the criminal case against the drunk
driver who hit me. It is hard to forgive him because he has changed my life
in a bad way. It is 9 months now and like I said, pain is my life.

I hope he gets jail time to match my pain. There is just no excuse for drunk
driving.

Prayers and positive thoughts coming to you for a good outcome from your
surgery.
My DS#2 was in an accident 3 years ago which has changed his life also. At
this point we only wish the other driver had been drinking. DS was stopped
at a red light and apparently the other guy just wasn't watching. Where he
lives they have no-fault car insurance and it is government owned. Meaning
that he can't sue the other driver unless that driver was drunk.

His insurance will pay all his medical bills and they pay him 80% of the
income he was making at the time of the accident. He was 24. His income,
while not minimum wage was still not that great. He had been hoping to
continue training and be able to earn much better. Now he stays home with
the kids while his wife goes to work. The banks won't lend him money for a
mortgage as they say insurance is not an income, and his wife doesn't earn
enough on her own to qualify.... etc, etc...

He has had surgery on his spine twice, neither have worked. They are now
going to try fusing the affected area together, hoping it will alleviate the
pain. At the beginning of Aug they told him it would be at least April
before they could fit him in. Meanwhile he is on pain killers every day.
Somedays are worse than others. His injury is lower than yours, just below
the waist.

I really hope the surgeons can help you before 3 whole years of your life
have gone by.

Amen.

Somewhere on YouTube there is a documentary about a young Venezuelan
woman who was the victim of a drunk driver. I didn't save the URL and
wouldn't post it here if I had - that will be enough info to find it
for anybody who really wants to. It's the most sickeningly horrible
thing I've ever seen on film, and if I was a judge I'd insist that all
drunk drivers watch it over and over again until they get the point.

Very best of good luck for your surgery. To be in constant pain is a
dreadful result of someone's stupidity, selfishness and greed. I hope
they throw the metaphorical book at him - on the head preferably.

You can understand then. I have 5 herniated discs, two in my neck, two in my
lower back and one in the middle. The neck injury is causing me all the
headaches, dizziness and disorientation. Since this one is getting worse, we
are going for it first. Then the low back is a wait and see how the neck
goes.

We have no fault here in Florida, however, the driver had no license and the
owner of the car only had 10,000 - bare minimum. Fortunately, I have good
insurance and it was stacked, so I am hoping that it lasts through my
medical treatment. Anything left, the attorney will get.

Only thing I want is to get better and pay off my car that I had to buy
since mine was totalled.

I appreciate everyones prays and good thoughts.

I know alcoholism is a disease -- DH & I both come from alcoholic
families. That being said, I feel very strongly that those who drink
and drive, especially if they already are aware they have a drinking
problem, should be charged with attemped manslaughter because you KNOW
before you drink what can happen. I agree with you that there is
absolutely NO EXCUSE for drunk driving. Sending hugs and kitty prayers
to you to help deal with your physicla difficulties and I hope they
throw the book at the drink who hurt you!!! CiaoMeow ^;;^

I am so glad that you will be having at least a partial solution to your
pain. A dear friend had that sort of surgery last year and we took good
care of her. It was wonderful to finally get that brace off of her but the
best part was knowing she didn't even need an aspirin - her pain is gone.
We want that for you. Polly

Oh Boca, sure hope something can be done for your pain. I agree, there is
no excure for drunk drivers. He deserves jail time and maybe also doing
your yard work, but I don't think you want him to know your address.
