Default Happy Dancing

I'm doing a happy dance for some rain [remember we've been having lots of
forest fires here on the west coast] and for my Jane Sassaman mini quilt.
It's 12" x 15.5" and it's quilted and bound from my class yesterday. I
stayed up until 0130 this morning doing the machine quilting and sewing on
the binding. Today I buried all my threads and stitched down my binding.
All that remains is a name and a label!
It's already been to it's first show and tell. One of my neighbours is also
a guild member and I got some books at the sale for our retreat in November
and for the guild as door prizes. She had our membership chair over to do
some computer stuff. So I delivered the books to Linda and Mary and did a
show and tell and got to have lunch out!
My piece is all in solid colours. The upper background is black and the
lower green. I then have some skeleton tree shapes at the bottom in a rust.
Above is a yellow moon and two different yellow stars. There is a blue bird
in the sky. All the pieces have been machine appliquéd. The moon and stars
in two different yellow rayon threads using the satin stitch. The bird is
done in a blue rayon buttonhole stitch. But first I stay stitched it so the
resulting stitch looks like a ladder stitch. The trees are done with a
bridging stitch. It looks sort of like this v--^--v--^--v. I'm very
pleased. Then I machine stitched it with YLI jean stitch black doing an
echo stitch.
First quilt I've done start to finish in less than 24 hours.

That's a definite yes. Will have to see what my friends created in the two
day Designing from Nature workshop did and combine ideas together and see
what grows. Have lots of photos of flowers and plants to grow ideas from.
