I like modern patterns to. And you know what? You can get very graphic
effects using solely squares, or rectangles, or triangles, and playing a
lot with colour. that is what I am aiming for in a couple of my
quilts... so you don't need many sewing skills, just an artistic
inclination....

Okay, I'm a beginner. Let's get that right out in front. :-)

I need to start with some fairly simple patterns. I really like the more
"modern" or contemporary styles, as opposed to the more traditional. I found a
Karen Combs book, "Optical Illusions for Quilters", and I'm ordering it. Are
there any other titles/authors anyone can recommend?
