Wool is very close to human hair in composition. I would not be afraid to try it. The same for the llama hair. I do not know what it will do to the acrylic. Let me know what you find. God bless, Dennis what a cool idea! thanks, I'll pass it on Hi Krysia) Nice to see you here too! Ophelia Hi! hehehe, I do get around a bit ))I started off with the quilting ng, then discovered the Polish cooking newsgroup, then was at the birth of the Polish needlecraft ng, started reading house building/house improvements group (Polish), books group (Polish, to see what new books are published there), the uk craft ng, which is rather boring and non existent, then the Pol-Eng translating group and the UK food+dringk...don't ask to how many yahoo mailing lists/groups I belong to!!! obviously too much time on my hands, or rahter time taken away from crafting ... but quilting, knitting, sock knitting ones are there in a prominent place are you a groupie? sorry )- a ng junkie too? Moi!!!! How could you think such a thing... I only have ummmm errrrrr 6! O |

Hi Kyrsia,
I'm addicted to this group, have to get to the computer some time during the day to see what's new and say hello at least once. I do read a couple of other ng's but not like this one. This one is family. Hugs, Nora |

Jacquard makes an acid dye in black. I haven't tried it yet, though. Problem is, that it won't take on acrylic, only protein fibers and nylon. Well, maybe she could dye it twice. Once with something that will dye the wool, and once with something that will dye the acrylic. =Tamar |

Screen printing black ink? =Tamar |

The color is often added to the solution before extruding the fiber for acrylic. I've also heard there are some noxious professional dyes that work but are not available to home dyers. Paints might work, but would stiffen the stuff. Helen "Halla" Fleischer, Fantasy & Fiber Artist http://home.covad.net/~drgandalf/halla/ Balticon Art Program Coordinator http://www.balticon.org |

Krysia p.s. my friend says she is worried about the hair dye method as her hair dye washes out of HER hair very quickly anywaay, I'll suggest the inks to her, thanks K.T. - starannie opakowana |
