Walking Foot
Well, my light bulb came on a bit today. I've had my brother ps1250 for
about 5 years now, and shortly after "Santa" gave it to me, I got another gift from "Santa"...it was a walking foot that fit my machine. I knew what it was, but being that I couldn't figure out how to put it on the machine, I left it set. Today, I decided to work a little more on my DS's car quilt...the one to keep in the vehicle for him to snuggle under on car trips. I stretched out the top to mark it, and argued with that for about 2 hours. I couldn't get any of my marking pencils to mark on the fabric. They wrote great on the paper...but not on the fabric. I switched to a mechanical pencil, then remembered all the fun that some of you have had getting pencil marks out of the fabric. I remembered that I have 3 rolls of 1/4 inch masking tape, so I started taping. I got it taped, then hauled out the batting and backing and basted the sucker. It may be smallish, but it was a 2 beer baster. I sat down at the machine to start quilting, and remembered my walking foot. I pulled it out of its little box and looked at it, fiddled with it, and had a Light Bulb Moment. I figured out how to put it on, and started sewing, wrestling with the quilt in the tiny space, and cussing up a blue streak at the safety pins. I'm now 1/4 done with the quilting, and although I'm having thread tension issues, I don't have pucker issues on the back. Maybe this walking foot contraption isn't so bad after all... Pics soon to come!! yeah....it's a nice little tool. mine helped me put on a binding yesterday. Poly
batting tends to slip...and i was having major probs with it. (this quilt is for dh's grandmother, and she specifically asked for poly batting...blech.) Walking foot minimized the slippage, and now the quilt is finished. -- Jalynne Queen Gypsy (snail mail available upon request) see what i've been up to at www.100megsfree4.com/jalynne "Karlee in Kansas" wrote in message ...
