Default Home from US and Houston...

As you may have read in Sandy's report on Houston, she and I met up
for a quick lunch. Unfortunately I was really sick for the most of
the days in Houston with a flu type bug DH and I picked up in New
Orleans the previous week. All those festival crowds. That city
really rocks at Halloween g. I was thrilled to meet Sandy and hand
over custody of the koala but I'm not sure I made a lot of sense. It
was a struggle to attend classes but I did, and enjoyed the beautiful
quilt displays and shopping in the retail stores. We met up with our
Aussie buddies and I can tell you, there were very many Australians
and New Zealanders at the Show, due in part to the strength of our
Australian dollar against the greenback.
I am not sure how the fully laden planes ever took off the ground from
LAX, our pilot stated he would be using the longer of the two runways
to lift off! Those quilters really know how to shop.
In summary, DH and and our travelling companion, Lorraine, had a
wonderful month in the USA visiting such a diverse number of places
from Santa Fe to D.C, to Lexington Va, the Carolinas, St Augustine in
Nthn Fl, and finally driving across the gulf states to Texas. Blue
skies and mild temperatures followed us all the way, missing those
later autumn snow storms. We had to go shopping for t-shirts and
sandals as we had packed for cooler weather. DH drove beautifully in
our rental black Dodge Charger, looking like the Secret Service,
clocking up some 2800 miles.
Again, kindnesses and friendships from your citizens, from store
keepers to the man in the street, hotels, tourism counters, etc. made
our vacation memorable, safe and fun. Heartfelt thanks!
Hugs

Oh I wish I had known the days you were traveling through
Mississippi. I would have contacted Miss Polly and we would have met
you at one of the casinos for lunch. Would have brought along some T-
shirts for you, your DH and traveling companion. Glad you had warm
weather while traveling in this area. We dropped to freezing temps
overnight, so your trip through here was at just the right time.

Glad to hear you had a great time.

Kate T. South Mississippi
