Default Brand New Janome 6600!!!!!

I brought my mom's Pfaff 2124 home with me -- well, I shipped it here
and it arrived today and I played a bit with it and wasn't impressed.
AND it was missing a bobbin case and I dno't like the idea of sharing
between machines.

So I went to our Pfaff dealer here, which is also the Janome dealer
and which is going out of business to buy a bobbin case. I took the
machine to make sure I got the right one.

Long story short, I came home with a brand new Janome 6600 and a $400
rolling case. The Pfaff stayed with the soon-to-be-ex shop owner, who
said she would probaby part it out and sell the pieces on the website
she's starting.

I traded the whole thing even-steven and it cost me only what I paid
for shipping. I'm so excited I could yelp!

I'm putting away projects and playing with my new machine for the
afternoon. And I t hink I'm g oing to join the Janome group. Wowsers,
I know some folks don't like the 6600, but others do and I hope I'm
going to be one of the "others".

I joined the Yahoo 6500 now 6600 group, and it was extremely helpful,
when I bought mine. I love my 6500 (they are a little different from
one another).

I hope you learn all about it and then have a great time with your new
machine.

I think the like/dislike is mostly a computerised/mechanical division.

WOW! I had no idea that a 2nd hand Pfaff would come anywhere near the
price of a new Janome 6600, I'm sure the shop closing had something to
do with it, but even so, it sounds like an amazing deal.

Cheers

WOOHOOOOOO, Sunny!!! I truly hope you love it as much as I love mine. I've
had my 6600 for almost 2 years now and I am still convinced that it is the
perfect quilter's sewing machine- if I had asked for a sewing machine to be
custom made just for me and my needs it would have had all the features the
6600 has. That 'chain of hearts' stitch is adorable for using one at a time
for tacking children's or baby's quilts- I love that one. I usually trade
machines every three years, but I may just keep this one for a l-o-n-g time.
Enjoy!!! (If you didn't get the Accu-Feed 1/4 in. foot and the Accu-Feed
open toe foot maybe you could get them cheaper than retail from the dealer
before they are out of business???)

That's fabulous, Sunny. I've been asked to go with a friend to buy a new SM
on Saturday. I'm thinking she needs you to go with her. What a wonderful
deal! Wow. Polly

I've only had mine for about three weeks (I had a Bernina 153 before)
and I absolutely love it. The free motion quilting (I got the special
foot and bobbin case) is just vastly superior to my old machine. The
speed control is great for FWQ, you can set it to any speed and then
put the pedal to the metal, without being afraid of getting 50
stitches in one spot (which I was always doing before, so I would
hurry and move the quilt too fast and end up with lousy tension
problems). The thread cutter is great, and straight line quilting with
the Accufeed and the automatic tie off is great.

It's a beast, all right, but I just love mine so far. I think that for
the price, with the long throat and all of the other quilter-friendly
features, it is the best machine out there for quilters right now. I
looked at a TON of machines before I decided on this one.

So far I can tell you one thing for su I love, love, love the "stop/
start" button! Constant speed, no matter how much my foot twitches!
Yes, it does merit an exclamation point or two BEG. I now will start
saving for the open toe foot and special bobbin case. The shop where I
got the machine doesn't have it so I will have to order. Anybody got a
good place for purchasing this add-on?

And I have never used that function. It scares me to not be in control of
the speed with my foot pedal! Isn't it great that we are all so
different.... and the machines offer us options to make each of us happy!
