I buy old sweaters at resale shops, run them through the washer, and
use the resulting fabric to make cut-sew slippers On Fri, 02 Apr 2004 06:09:05 GMT, (Mirjam Bruck-Cohen) wrote: Ldies i found i had some old sweaters ,, [ yes i do !!!] that i don`t like to use anymore and trhey aren`t nice enough to give away ,,, thus into the washing machine ,, with the TOWELS ,,, came out as some nice felted pieces ,,, Wow ,,,, this will be cut up and crochjeted together ,,,,, felt with braids ,,, lucky me !!!! mirjam |

Go to the fabric shop and find a pattern for Polarfleece slippers.
Use it to make slippers with old sweaters that have been washed and fulled as the fabric. I just bought a little sweater to try & make a felted tote bag from.... It appears from this post that I should felft first, then cut & sew together? Thanks for any advice for a newbie to felting.... Karen G. |

To be sure the bag stays "straight" I'd felt, then cut, then sew.

Hi Karen ,, if it is an old sweater ,, FIRST throw it in with the
towels or succh item .... than before cutting the bag , you might cut mittens , lay sweater nicely on a surface , pin both sides , now cut mittens from the hem up, using the rib to become the mittens rib,,,, Sew , embelish ,,,, enjoy , mirjam On 05 Apr 2004 21:09:40 GMT, (Kayrun) wrote: Hi, I just bought a little sweater to try & make a felted tote bag from.... Old sweaters can find new lives as slippers, mittens, bags, hats, and other useful items. Piece them together to make larger sections. Make patchwork pillow covers, chair or sofa covers. Make pet beds, stuffed animals, pot holders, or a vest. Make a tea cozy, bath mat, or toilet seat cover, or clever little coat for a Chihuahua. |
