Default Fantastic Plastic

Hi all I just started claying and I'm very excited about all the
possibilities! Now all I need is talent I had a couple questions,
one how do I cut down on finger prints and distortion when I'm putting
cane slices on an object? I want to neatly & completely cover boxes,
pens, whatever but I have a real problem with smushing the cane pattern
when trying to get the slices on evenly. And two, anyone here tried a
product called fantastic plastic? I saw some on ebay and thought it
looked great for making molds. Then I got worried it wouldn't make a
sharp impression, or the plastic would react with the clay, etc.
Thanks,
Patty

Wearing latex gloves helps with fingerprints. You can also rub
cornstarch over the raw clay to 'sand' down fingerprints. After baking,
sanding, then buffing, will also remove the marks.

You can use a flat object, like an espresso coffee tamper or a meat
tenderizer to burnish cane slices and smooth them out.

Not familiar with friendly plastic, sorry.
