But I don't doubt I may have thrown that in there. Some days they should keep a typewriter away from me. Dianne No, I was pretty sure it was a valid word, and more what you meant to say than "articulation" which I understand more in terms of good diction than in terms of clear logical sentences. I couldn't come up with a better word off the top of my head, and didn't have a thesaurus handy to look up a better one. -- Karen C - California www.CFSfacts.org where we give you the facts and dispel the myths Finished 8/16/05 - Be Sure to Pay the Pipers WIP: 50th Anniversary sampler for aunt/uncle, July birthstone, Flowers of Hawaii (Jeanette Crews) for ME!!! They sell an awful lot of instruction sheets and craft yarns at Michaels and Walmart. |

Yep, that kind of thing and the rough cottons, like Kitchen Cotton. There's another rough to the touch heavy weight cotton, but my mind is a blank at the moment and I can't think of the name. They manufacture #10 mercerized cottons too. Is the name Aunt "Somebody?" Maybe someone else can fill in the missing name so I don't feel quite so dopey. |

I bet Mrs Bucket has one - I know my sister-in-law does - but then what else would you expect from someone who has one of those awful clear plastic toilet seats with shells and starfish etc. in them!!! :-( Pat P. |

Karen C - California Articulation, for goodness sake! LONG ago I was warned not to trust a spellchecker! Pat P So much for her claim to fame as a proof-reader! Relying on spell check doesn't cut it in the real world I've found. Back when I was typing for a living (which, thank God, I don't do anymore! LOL) I never relied on it for accuracy. It seemed like it didn't recognize real words and allowed some really wild typoes through! I've been called "highly articulate" but that was my upbringing as much as anything. You don't grow up with an English Teacher for a mother without being able to use the language. Course, you also don't grow up with a Math Teacher dad and be bad with numbers. Probably why I was drawn to the Media Planning part of Advertising in college. Had to write proposals for clients, and work with numbers! FWIW: Oxfords dictionary says it's a word, too. articulation: making of speech sounds take care nicole However, my Merriam-Webster does not recognize "articulateness" as a word, and that was the word being discussed. Caryn Again I will repeat: Merriam-Webster on line does recognize the word. Maybe it's newer than your version. Here's the link to the page that says it's a noun: http://m-w.com/cgi-bin/dictionary?bo...articulateness Lucille I had used Merriam-Webster online, in fact, granted it was the one AOL has, so maybe it's not up to date on the newest made up words. Caryn Actually I found it in the Oxford-English Dictionary, much to my amazement. As Sheena says - it`s such an AWKWARD word (and ugly!), I would never use it. That's what I said 4 posts ago, but whatever.... cu nicole |

In the first entry of ar-tic-u-late, the adjective entry, in the M-W 10th Collegiate. In the sense of item C in that entry, and equivalent to "felicity of expression," as John Adams is alleged to have said about TJ. |
