Not a chance..I keep track of who gave what that ends up in the re-gift
pile. For example, the coat was given by Mother's "boyfriend" and will go to DH's father. They have never and will never meet, so there isn't a chance of anybody finding anything out. Is there any chance that anyone will ever find out that you regifted their gift, or that they were given a regifted gift and be offended? That would be the only reason I would choose not to do it. In that case the unwanted gift would end up in a garage sale in a few years. LoL Diana -- http://photos.yahoo.com/lunamom44 "CNYstitcher" wrote in message ... Just a question for the masses: Does anybody else here "re-gift" items that they got but have no use or desire for?? DH was given a jacket that he would never wear, but that his father would, so that is our Christmas gift to him. Our niece is old enough for porcelain dolls, so she is getting the very first one that I was given (not to worry, there are plenty for Rebekah to have when she is old enough)........ I don't think I relaly have any Christmas presents to *make* except for pajama bottoms for DH that match the pajamas that i just made for DS, but that will only take about an hour or so to do. Yup. See how calm I am? Say, I seem to have misplaced a 700-piece lego set.

Wendy, hear, hear!! I used to "make" many gifts and ultimately found the pressure just too ridiculous and stopped it. There is usually one quilt a year to be bound and wrapped for Christmas...not too much of a burden. The rest will have to wait. Little ones grow up way too fast, and they don't care whether gifts are homemade or not. They'll remember afternoons spent baking cookies with mom, or decorating, much longer than Grampa will remember his hand quilted tie! Cheers, lynne in Toronto frood wrote: I used to spend every waking minute rushing to get Christmas gifts made. Then DH gently reminded me that I wasn't spending any time with the family, and we were missing out on doing fun stuff. I realized that was more important, and really scaled back on making gifts. I still make some, but only what I really really want to, not out of obligation. We have a much more relaxed and fun season, going out to see the lights, making cookies, cranking up the holiday tunes and romping round the house, decorating! Maybe this year we'll make some cards - Spike and Giles are old enough to help with that. That said, I am planning to do some of those easy coasters this year! Keep your heads and K.I.S.S....that is.. keep it simple, silly! This is not the time to plan to make everyone of those 15 adored grandchildren a hand quilted quilt. Not everyone on your list of beloved relatives expect you to wear yourself down to nothing for a quilty gift. How about this? You have an Uncle you adore who appreciates good wine. Why not make him a wine tote and a simple wine bottle charm, presented to him with a decent bottle of wine inside? Your MIL isnt big into quilts but loves table runners that are seasonal. How bout create a simple one for an occasion she might not have thought of...say...talk like a pirate day. Ok, you promised the younger members of your family quilts. No getting out of it. Make the tops and promise the quilting will be done by their next birthday. But.. the most important part is.. dont panic! No one will love you less if your gift is late, or just in the planning stage. Ok, now get to work! Diana, times awastin for me too! lol -- http://photos.yahoo.com/lunamom44 "Elizabeth Young" wrote in message news:mFCcb.575471$Ho3.106800@sccrnsc03... I love and miss Lego blocks. I have a LOT of DS's in the garage.
I may borrow the grand nephews and drag them out when those boys get a bit older. Taria frood wrote: Yup. See how calm I am? Say, I seem to have misplaced a 700-piece lego set. I make quilted gift bags. I've made a few gift bags, but out of curiosity, do youhappen to have a pattern or instructions, Julia? I make simple bags with ties, and can probably do some quiltie ones without a pattern, but I am beginning to notice more and more that its simply easier with pattern or instructions (i.e. - I'm more inclined if I don't have to mess with making a pattern first or there are solid directions - I know its silly, but there you are). Haven't got that here, just the jumbo set that fills 3 40 litre wheeled stacking crates and half a living room! Part of the refurbishment of James's room includes a whole wall of shelves and a set of plastic boxes for the Lego kits! I need the space they occupy in the living room for a book case to hold DVDs and tapes! I also reckon if each kit has a box, and all the boxes are reachable on shelves, he'll be able to play with it a lot more than if it's stacked in boxes in the living room and he gets yelled at every time I tread on it! Why is it that the yellow bricks have sharper corners than all the others? I will re-use the Lego's stack boxes for fabric stash! -- Kate XXXXXX Lady Catherine, Wardrobe Mistress of the Chocolate Buttons http://www.diceyhome.free-online.co.uk Click on Kate's Pages and explore! |
