Default Pottery classes?

Hello, folks!
I'm a new lurker to this newsgroup. I'm hoping you can help me connect with
a pottery community in Portland, Oregon. My mother was a potter, and I
grew up scouring the hills (so to speak) for native clays. Sometimes we'd
build raku kilns on the beach and fire what we made there! I'd like to get
back into it!

I've looked at community college classes, and there are some in our area.
Are there other places one can look for access to a kiln? Do those "glaze
commercial pottery" places often let people rent kiln space?

thanks in advance for your help.

My sister lives in Portland and has recently taken classes.
I asked her about her experience, and she said:

I took pottery at Multnomah Art Center, just down the street
from me. Its great. I would tell your friend to sign up
there asap for the fall classes, as pottery classes fill up
really quickly. My instructor was Victoria Shaw, very
laid-back and creative. I think all the pottery instructors
there are good, but have different personalities, different
talents.

Hope this helps!
