Default Can someone help me with a pattern?

It's been a good few years since I last posted here! Since then much
has happened, including a new nephew.

I've spent the entire day today searching for an interesting pattern for
a 2-year old boy, and haven't found anything that "speaks to me". Does
anyone have a pattern for me - preferably something with a cable - aran
- or at least something just plain interesting. I'm an advanced
knitter, btw. And I have two weeks to do something for Christmas.

You might get a wider variety of replies if you post your question on
rec.crafts.textiles.yarn. The folk over there have an astonishingly
broad range.

Thanks. I searched newsgroups for knitting, didn't find anything, and
decided to revert to this one.

I recognized a couple of the patterns in the knittingpatterncentral site
from a book I had. I just gave it away last year when I got rid of a ton
of old knitting books.

I have moved so many times in the last few years. When I decided to
make this jersey I went confidently to my bookcase to pull out my most
trusty book, and it wasn't there.

So frustrating. And in the spirit of decluttering I think I managed to
throw out the pile of patterns I've been hoarding and collecting for
30-odd years. Oh well, at least I could find the needles, and SOME
suitable wool.

Thanks again. I like the slippers - I had always felt knitted ones
were too risky on hardwood but the owner of a local yarn shop told me
to use Shoe Goo on the base. When it dries it is like the rubber
patterns on the bottoms of some commercial socks. I have some of the
Shoe Goo (readily available in hardware stores) but haven't yet tried
it. Might take a shot at some of the slippers and try it out.

Certainly lots to look at with both sites !

Never heard of that before, but it's a good idea. Wonder if we can get
it in Africa. I've been wanting to make myself some socks - could make
slipper-socks!
