newbie intro
Hi Dollhouse Friends!
I just recently found this group and thought I would join in. I usually hang out over on rec.crafts.textiles.needlework but now I'm branching out. Years ago I was into miniatures big time. I had a gorgeous HUGE house that was overflowing with lovely handmade pieces. The house was so big I had to give it away when I moved cross country and into a tiny apartment. I've always regretted giving up that house but I was smart enough to keep all my furnishings, tools, supplies, etc......I would love to get back into the hobby and meet new friends. Besides being interested in miniatures and needlework I am very involved with lots of pets. I have a riding horse and a teeny tiny pony (horse's barn buddy), a Shetland Sheepdog, a huge fish tank full of stuff and a Cockatoo that talks and screeches a lot and 2 outside barn cats. I have 2 inside only house cats and I've just recently become the proud "grandmother" to my first litter of Turkish Angora kittens. I raised their mom from a baby and now she has babies! - 4 beautiful little girl babies that I hope do great in the cat show world. LOL, right now they're little Hell raisers! I also like to read and garden and putter around doing house projects. Professionally, I'm an RN and work the night shift on a very busy pediatric unit. It's winter time right now so that means it's cootie season. There are lots of sick kids in and out. I live in the Houston, Texas area. Does anybody know of any good shops? Any good places to take lessons? Any anything? Oh, how about good web sites and Internet info? Any info you can send my way will be greatly appreciated. Anne |

I just left Houston a few years ago . . . now in the greater Atlanta area.
There are a few shops and places of interest for you. Up around the Humble area they have a shop, as well as another around the Fondern / Westheimer area. I understand that there is also a museum on Old Katy close to the Blalock / Campbell area. They have a club in Houston but I can't tell you much other than that. Look up the CIMTA web site and you will find a lot for the area. Good luck living in Houston--spent 38 years there. Feel free to ask for more info and I will help out in any way that I can. Patrick |
