Default Got some quilting done!

The other night I finished off a tiddly little quilt...

A couple of weeks back I thought: Cornflake got a quilt because he was
sick, but Sugar Puff didn't when she had a gammy leg. She needs a quilt!

Now she has one! Like his, a simple 9 squares sewn together, padded
with a scrap of poly fleece, backed with some stripes, and with a purple
flowery binding. In fact, her whole quilt is little granny prints of
flowers! The 9 squares were stitched on my 1909 Mrs Jones, and the
quilting and binding sewn on the 'new' Elna Lotus. Both machines
behaved impeccably throughout.

Today I might buy my mum a machine: going to look at small new light
weight machines for a granny with arthritic thumbs, who has to lift it
on and off the desk as it has to be sewing machine OR typewriter, not
both! Perhaps she will then finish the skirt she's had in the making
for a couple of years! She liked USING the Viscount I gave her, but
it's too heavy for her to lift, so she has to wait for my brother to be
there to get it out for her and put it away again...

I might 'win' her old Singer in return, and see what I can do about it's
mixed history and penchant for buzzzzzzzing like a demented bee then
setting of at warp speed for Tau Ceti... I'm thinking of maybe
reconverting it to hand-crank...
