Default Canning soup...

I canned soup for the first time and what a mess, I must have had the jars
filled to far for they burst the lid. Any suggestions? Carol In WI

Wide mouth jars? I believe Mom fills them just to the bottom of the
neck when canning tomato soup or tomato juice. I'm usually busy running
stuff through the food mill so I haven't done that step myself. What
kind of soup are you canning? Freezing is a good option for many soups
if you have the freezer space. Tomato is fairly safe to can since it is
so acidic. Others can spoil too easily.
