Default OT On the Move Again!!

Slightly Belated Happy New Year to all!!!

Long time no posts from me but the reasons are too many and too boring for
most here so I won't waste your time with them......suffice to say medical
issues were a major factor and me suffering from a large dose of the
depressions....... anyway here's whats been happening that is a tad more
interesting.....

Long timers here will know that almost 3 years ago I returned to the UK
after 10 years in Holland..... well the house is almost to our liking BUT we
are moving again only this time we'll be moving for a large proportion of
the year as in we are having a narrowboat built for us to live aboard. It's
a 57' x 6' semi trad which will compromise of a bedroom, bathroom,
galley...... aka kitchen, dinette which will convert to a double bed and a
saloon .....aka sitting room which will also be able to sleep 2 more.....

'Erbert.......aka Robert......me hubby, and I had thought about buying a
narrowboat for holidays but in Feb..... last year his heart decided that it
would play up and finally in July he was an emergency case for a triple
heart bypass...the angina was too unstable by that time.........so we looked
long and hard at our lives and decided that he should retire for 7 or 8
months of the year and us sell up and move aboard.( I have been medically
retiried since November 1996)......Quality not quantity is our goal......
and more P & Q is a must for us both.

So at the moment we have builders and painters in the house finishing off
the odd jobs 'Erbert can no longer do like painting the upstairs windows,
fitting a new ceiling in one bedroom, plastering the bathroom etc........

We have sold almost everything we own because we have far too much to fit in
boat BUT my sewing cabinet and machine, books and tools are coming with me
along with a slightly reduced stash LOL.....If anyone in the UK wants a
Singer Treadle Base please let me know via (Remove
the ono first though) and if you can collect it, it's yours for
free......it's a 5 drawer version if that helps you decide and I think I do
have a load of fabrics to go with it LOL.....

We have come down from having a computer each to sharing a laptop UGH! but
we'll still be able to read and post when we are afloat....

Anyway, I have been sewing.... went on a course a couple of weeks ago to
learn how to make faux chenille and had a wonderful time stitching and
slashing a gillet aka a weskit! Great way to use all those bits of fabrics
and the gillet has come in very handy in this cold weather......Well, I
expect I have bored the eyes off you already so will leave you in peace for
the time being.

Take care all, speaketh soonest. ConnieD aka RHLadyCD

HULLOOO Connie!
Well, there's a turn-up g So good to hear from you.

I must come over and see you before you go a-wandering. Sounds as if it
will be lovely. Funny, you getting ready to get aboard and sail off;
Helen (or Armadillo fame) and her DH have come off the boat and settled
on land!!

Connie,
It's great to hear from you. I tried to e-mail you, but the e-mail address
I had must have been an old one. I'm glad to hear of your traveling plans.
This sounds so adventurious to me. grin Glad to hear that Erbert is doing
better.

Please explain what a narrow boat is and where it will be moored,
where will it sail/motor?

I assume that, being long and narrow, it will move on canals, but
where are the canals?

I am so envious! I'd like to live in a motor home, or sail boat and
move about whenever the mood hits. To warmer weather, cooler weather,
the mountains, the beach. I know, kind of hard to get to the mountains
in a sail boat. Of course I'd have to have room for my sewing machine
collection, stash, and computers. Maybe I could move about part time.

I could use the warmer weather RIGHT NOW! So could poor Ruffles (the
Ridgeback) I have to force her out side to perform her business.

Bonnie, in freezing Middletown, VA
