Why not? If the cord fits thru, I don't see why you couldn't.

sure you can. there are even crimp ends make specifically for cord and
ribbon that are sized to the diameter of the cord/leather/ribbon.

i am concerned about slippage and also the metal cuttting the cord... any thoughts?

I really just don't like the look of crimps, so I'd much rather tie the
silk.

Knotting and french wire to cover the last little bit of silk that
connects to the clasp. French wire (aka gimp or bullion) is a real
pain to work with, but looks lovely when it's done right.


Yes. Clamshells with a knot inside will also work.
