sure you can. there are even crimp ends make specifically for cord and

lately, what is the traditional way to do the ends of pearl strands? Knotting and french wire to cover the last little bit of silk that connects to the clasp. French wire (aka gimp or bullion) is a real pain to work with, but looks lovely when it's done right. Yes. Clamshells with a knot inside will also work. ~~ Sooz
