Thanks Flossy! It's looking rather nasty here in Iowa today. Our city has
a huge Jazz Fest that expects to attract about 25,000 people and the first night was rained out last night. There are two more days of bands with national headliners and the weather doesn't look much better. It's dark and very "foggy". Then the air gets so heavy that it has to rain for a bit just to release the humidity. Not a nice time for all those who have worked so hard on the festival. There are several events going on around the area today and tomorrow. I just hope it clears up for them. Happy 4th to everyone! -- Kathyl remove "nospam-" before mchsi http://community.webshots.com/user/kathylquiltz "Flossy" wrote in message ... The big July 4th event in these parts is Grand Excursion 2004
http://www.grandexcursion.com. It celebrates the Grand Excursion of 1854, which celebrated America's first rail connection to the Mississippi River. A number of paddlewheel ships started up the Mississippi River from the Quad Cities of Iowa and Illinois on June 25. They are scheduled to end up in Saint Paul, Minnesota, today. All of the towns along the river have had events of some type or other to celebrate. DH and I went to LaCrosse, Wisconsin, on Wednesday for a lunch cruise on the Spirit of Peoria. Weather was beautiful and we had a wonderful time. Yesterday, I went to Wabasha, Minnesota, for a quilt show. Lots of nice quilts, especially considering that Wabasha is a small town. I also stopped at the Ben Franklin store there for some S.E.X. -- got some nice flannels for a couple of yellow brick roads. -- This message has been scanned for viruses by Norton Anti-Virus http://mail.chartermi.net/~jaccola/ |
