Well, definitions can be prescriptive or descriptive. How a term is
actually used is very important.


I quite agree. For your edification then, I include the following.

This: - ^ - is a caret. This: - 1/24 - is a Karat. This; -
200milligrams - is a Carat.

When "soldering" Gold, even when "Brazing" Gold, one does not ordinarily
use "Silver Solder". One uses Gold Solder in the appropriate formulation for
the Karat Gold one is "Soldering".


I agree. But *if* you connect two pieces of high *Karet* gold by
flowing silver between them, that is still silver brazing or hard
soldering. What else would you call it?
