Default New to sewing.. need a little help please

Hi Everyone,

I\'m new to sewing.. well new to sewing clothes.. This will be my first
time making a dress and I picked a simple pattern.. I though it was simple
anyway.. I bought a pattern that can be made in sizes 12, 14, 16, and 18
but I\'m scared to cut the fabric because it looks like the skirt part of
the dress pattern is not going to line up right.. the front part of the
dress is going to be shorter than the back.. is it supposed to be that
way? Am I not \"reading\" the pattern correctly? On the 2 skirt pattern
pieces there are small lines with 12, 14, 16 and 18.. Is that where I\'m
supposed to cut or do I cut all the way to the bottom? I am BEYOND
confused /

Any help will be appreciated so much!!

Thanks in advance,
Jeannette
