Default Child's hat pattern

Many years ago I had a pattern for a child's hat. It was a balaclava
style pattern with what we, my daughters and I, called pussy cat ears.
I think it called for double knitting or sport weight yarn. Now my
daughter would like me to make one for her daughter. I can't find my
pattern and the yarn shop I go to doesn't have a copy and thinks that
the book may be out of print. They have a similar pattern, but it
calls for chunky yarn and I think that is way too bulky for a 15 month
old.

Does anyone have this pattern. I will be eternally grateful if I can
locate a copy.

If this is Marg Burwell from RSSIF - hi there Marg! (waving) Welcome to
RCTY!

I have a few old pattern booklets, so I'll look through them to see if that
one is in one of them, and report back.

Hi Marg

I have found an old Beehive pattern book in my collection, with a "Pussy
Cat" in sizes 2,4,& 6. It is a balaclava style with little ears, and calls
for Patons Canadiana Superwash wool or Patons Canadian Sayelle.

Two 4.5 mm or #7 needles. The gauge is 20 sts and 25 rows in stocking
stitch. This sounds more like a light worsted weight to me. You could try
it with DK or Sport and smaller needles and the size 2 might fit.

I'm going to e-mail you privately to see about the pattern

Shelagh
