Question re Blocking Lace
So I have finished knitting my Branching Out scarf. I read the Yarn
Harlot's directions for blocking lace he http://www.yarnharlot.ca/blog/archiv...the_block.html I would like to use the method of threading a piece of "smooth yarn" through the stitches along the edges. I used Lorna's Laces Shepard Sock yarn to knit the piece and have a small amount leftover. Is there any reason (besides the fact that it would be easier to use a contrasting color) to not use the same yarn to thread through the edge? TIA, LauraJ |

Question re Blocking Lace
Hi Laura,
Given that Branching Out has a fairly solid border you can probably block it successfully just with pins. VP Laura J wrote: So I have finished knitting my Branching Out scarf. Question re Blocking Lace
I'd also recommend looking at this article:
http://www.eunnyjang.com/knit/2006/1..._be_happy.html Eunny recommends crochet cotton as blocking thread. The strength is important - if you think your yarn is up to the strain then use it. If it breaks you'll have to start over but I can't imagine too many other pitfalls. VP |

VP Wow, that is a great reference. Thanks, VP! The yarn is sock yarn so it should hold up. And as someone else mentioned, the edge of this scarf is sturdy enough that I can probably do without the thread anyway. Lots of different things to try! LauraJ |
