Wood Carving Links?
I'm having a bit of a hard time finding good wood carving links.
Could you guys give me your favorite links? I'm especially interested in seeing personal web sites with photos of finished carving projects. By the way, do you know of any hobbyists making victorian furniture? |

(snip) I'm having a bit of a hard time finding good wood carving links.
I know what you mean. here are the few i have bookmarked. http://six.pairlist.net/mailman/listinfo/woodcarver http://www.carvingpatterns.com/ http://www.chipchats.org/welcome.shtml (snip)By the way, do you know of any hobbyists making victorian furniture? Just myself. I bought a set of carving tools yesterday, and some basswood chunks. Today, I'm gonna try making some cabriole legs with carved ball and claw foot. Are you looking for resources? I've recently bought/read some books on the subject as I've found internet resources for carving are few. Some books that have helped get me started are "How to carve wood" by Richard Butz and "Period Furniture Details" by Lonnie Bird. I remember you posting recently about which carving tools to buy. Have you chosen a set yet? FWIW, I went with the Henry Taylor 12 pc set plus an extra few gouges recommended in Butz book. Expensive, but still about 1/2 the price of the Pfeils, and, more importantly, I like how the Henry Talor set feels in my hands. wrote in message oups.com... Chris Pye has a site with lots of good information, tips and free downloadable e-books on carving subjects. http://www.chrispye-woodcarving.com/ There's also Lora Irish's site which has tutorials and a lot of good stuff for free as well as a large collection of carving patterns. http://www.carvingpatterns.com/ --RC "Sometimes history doesn't repeat itself.
