An applique trick
I just did some really messy appliqué to fusible web pressing. To keep my
pressing board clean, I put a sheet of Reynolds 'Release' aluminum foil on it. It works just great. The appliqué peeled off easily with nary a ravel or fray. It did Not work where the foil wasn't. Anybody know how to remove fusibles from a pressing board cover? Polly |

I do, but I can't remember. Not very helpful, huh? I'll see if I can
trigger it out of my brain tonight! Pauline Northern California "Polly Esther" wrote in message ... I just did some really messy appliqué to fusible web pressing. An applique trick
LOL. That's good, Pauline. Me too. I've read how to remove it but since
it was never going to happen to me, I didn't pay much attention. I tried putting scrap fabric on it and pressing it really hot hoping it would melt and attach to the scrap. Nope. I tried getting it hot and scraping it off. Nope. If Adult Supervision doesn't appear soon, I can always iron an appropriate appliqué on top of it. Whatever. Polly "Pauline" wrote in message . net... Polly This was at a sewing tips and tricks site I frequent. Removing Fused Interfacing To remove interfacing that has been fused in place, hold a steam iron over interfacing steaming for 5 - 10 seconds. Immediately peel off the interfacing. If it is still adhered, set the iron on the interfacing, but do not use pressure, lots of steam. To remove any fusing agent that remains on the fabric, cover it with a damp, lightweight fabric scrap and press. Peel off while warm. Continue with new scraps until all the adhesive can be removed. Remove the remainder of the "gunk" by sponging the area with rubbing alcohol--but be sure fabric or dye will not be affected by alcohol with a test. The combination of heat and steam seems to be what makes it get UNstuck........and if it doesn't work, well, little appliquéd dancing gators on your pressing board just might be rather ....uhhhhh.......FESTIVE! Polly I have a roll of 'magic carpet' oven/baking tray liner the length of the ironing board for this sort of work. Due to NOT having used it and other iron accidents over the summer (at least 3 major scorch marks!) I now need to re-do my ironing board! -- Kate XXXXXX R.C.T.Q Madame Chef des Trolls Lady Catherine, Wardrobe Mistress of the Chocolate Buttons http://www.katedicey.co.uk Click on Kate's Pages and explore! |

I too use baking paper to protect my ironing board cover (even if it is an
old bedsheet wrapped securely around the ironing board). The fusible webbing wont stick to the paper. As to removing it, Val idea is definitely worth a go. When I used to use fusible hemming years ago, that's how I used to release the hem to let down on my daughters' dresses. Good luck Polly, it sure can be a pain in the bottom cheeks. Seems to me that if it comes off that easily, it isn't much good as a

I wonder if there is a difference in ease of removal between the fusible
that must also be sewn round, and the fusible that truly bonds? .. In message , Roberta Zollner writes Seems to me that if it comes off that easily, it isn't much good as a fusible! Roberta in D -- Best Regards pat on the hill |

An applique trick
I have no idea what brand of fusible I was using. It was just a leftover
scrap. Whatever it is, the stuff is serious. It was not coming off unless I used scissors. My press board is now 'gag-a-goat' cute with an appliqué of wild roses. I surely am glad I didn't get it on something important. In conclusion: some fusibles are more powerful than others. Polly "Kate XXXXXX" wrote in message ...
