Have you tried to changed the attributes of those files? Changing them from
read only? What type of files are you trying to access?

i cant get into the h/d itself to do anything.
various files, text, scanned documents, pix etc.
i'm sure this can be done, just gotta find out how.
have new h/d and old one installed now but only the new one is enabled.
the old one was stopping boot'n straight into windows which was really
annoying.
soon as i find out how to get into the old h/d and retrieve my files, i
shall remove it, install a the new second h/d,
then i'll only have to work out how to use it without installing winXP into
that,
takes up way too much room for my liking.
cheers,
jeanne

Just replied via email, Jeanne. Hope we can sort this out for you. Nothing
more frustrating that a computer glitch.

Just had a look at that link and there's some promising suggestions in there
if your second HD drive is already set to slave and the problem is still
there.

ta, Wendy,
got your reply and am now reading thru your link and the one Jenn sent, as
well as links on those sites that might lead me down the right path...no not
the garden path, lol.

i will work thru this, i will find the answers i need, i'm sure i can figure
out eventually how to retrieve those files off the old h/d.
oh yea, gotta open puter and fix switches on old h/d so it is the slave,
enable it in the bios and see what happens when i reboot.

might take me all day today to get thru all this reading and understanding.
will return to advise of my progress as soon as there is some, lol.
much thanks for the help,
jeanne
