Jewellery on ebay
As has often been mentioned here before jewellery doesn't seem to sell well
on ebay. Has anyone any ideas why? My own experience is that jewellery is bought mainly by women, and that they like to handle the item before buying. -- William Black I've seen things you people wouldn't believe Barbeques on fire by chalets past the headland I've watched the gift shops glitter in the darkness off Newborough All this will pass like ice-cream on the beach Time for tea |

I think one reason that jewelry doesn't sell well on eBay is that many
potential buyers of jewelry may also MAKE jewelry, and feel like "I could do that myself". I also believe the market there is flooded with either cheap or underpriced stuff, which makes people not want to pay a reasonable price for an excellent piece of jewelry. And the market there is just FLOODED with too much to look at! I think most of the successful jewelry sellers online that I know have developed their own following and found their own niche without eBay. i think fashion jewelry($20-) would best sell in high foot traffic areas,
where people can see it, maybe try it - and buy it. all on a whim! it's kind of hard to buy a $10 piece of jewelry on ebay, and have to pay $5 for s/h "Karleen/Vibrant Jewels" wrote in message ... You know what does sell very well is Italian charms. I sold many from a wholesale website called www.italian-charms.cc and they flew off the shelf, and if they don't, you can always give the leftovers as christmas presents.

As has often been mentioned here before jewellery doesn't seem to sell well on ebay. I think the need to see it and touch is is one reason. Another is that it is usually not possible to compete with stuff from estates and attics on price. where there aren't that many low cost items around, and the item is "iconic" or recognizable, it may sell. one category seems to be glass beads. I don't know if the average sale is worth it, but there have been at least a few sales for unexpectedly large final bids. Has anyone any ideas why? eBay works for "iconic" items better than ones which need inspection, that have idiosyncratic characteristics. this is true of clothing as well. not necessarily entirely commodity items, but items where one knows what to expect from the photo and description. My own experience is that jewellery is bought mainly by women, and that they like to handle the item before buying. -- but the edge is still Out there. Or maybe it's In... I don't know if the average sale is worth it, but there have been at least a few sales for unexpectedly large final bids. A friend of mine is a bead maker and sells on ebay. She reckons it's because they're bought by people who make their own things, and there's also that there's little intrinsic value in the item. People seem to be scared to buy stuff when they may get ripped off because it's not made of what the seller says it's made of, when they will buy something where the value of the materials is essentially nothing. If it wasn't for the customers jewellery would be a wonderful business to be in... -- William Black I've seen things you people wouldn't believe Barbeques on fire by chalets past the headland I've watched the gift shops glitter in the darkness off Newborough All this will pass like ice-cream on the beach Time for tea |
