Default Help...Have Jewelry to Sell....Where Should I Go?

Hello,

I have some real nice jewelry I inherited. I don't have a use for it
and would like to sell it. I understand I will only get about half of
its true value, but what can I do or where should I go to get the best
possible price?

Thank You in Advance..

I'll give you $5, and the stamps/padded envelope to mail it to me :-D
Ok, I'm being a silly jerk (A silly jerk that LOVES melting stuff)

But seriously... I don't know if anyone can even point you in any sorta
direction until we have some idea of what exactly you've got..

I could be wrong.. maybe you saying "nice".. "inherited" IS enough for some
folks to help you out here... but I know if any of my erm... relations..
died, I'd be lucky to even inherit some who-knows-what-metal-plated
colored-glass-"birthstone" god-awful tacky whoKNOWSwhat, prolly something
found long ago on the clearance page of an Avon® flyer... and I'm NOT saying
that's AT ALL what you've got... just asking what it is, maybe, you DO...
got. :-)

Platinum? Gold? Silver?
Rubies? Diamonds? Opals? Pearls?

Pics?

Good luck, and demand top dollar whatever you do... It can only go down from
the top, right? If y'go in letting them know you expect half, there's
nowhere to go but less than that... Have confidence, pally!!!

Novice,

You would be exceedingly lucky to get 1/2 the 'true' value.
Consider 1/10, this is the little secret if the jewelry trade,
no resale value, unless it is truely a remarkable antique AND has
pedigre. Ebay is out, so are pawn shops and jewelers, maybe an estate
dealer....but I will think you will find you will not get anything for
your 'real nice jewelry'. As a general rule if it is something that
the big name international auction houses would not handle, you might
as well use it for fish tank decoration. Rememeber this when you go to
buy
your significant other something nice.

If you inherited it I'm guessing it's estate or even antique jewellery
(estate is less than 50 yrs. old, the rest is antique). Therefore, I'd
suggest finding some reputable antique store and offering items to them. If
they offer more than jewlleres... Refiners also tend to offer good prices.
But don't rush this, especially if you don't know much about jewellery. If
items feature gemstones ask someone somewhat knowledgable, to find out if
they're worth something. It can turn out that gemstones' value is way above
that of metals. Hope this helps.
