VERY, VERY OT Bath soap recommendation?

I have scrubbed a ring of slime-y soap residue from the bathtub for the
last time.... I hope! All the deoderant bath soap bars now seem to
contain "moisturizers" and I hate the slippery, scummy, slime-y mess
they leave in my bathtub. I was using Zest White Water bars, but they
seem to be discontinud. The Linen Fresh Zest that I just tried is the
slimey type- as is the generic version of Irish Spring soap bars.

Does anyone know of a deoderant bath soap that does not contain
moisturizers? I do NOT want some fancy, expensive bar of soap which
contains a lot of exotic stuff and that I cannot find locally in this
small town. I have a choice of WalMart, two grocery stores and a drug
store. We have no allergy issues. I just want a bar of deoderant soap
that's easy to find and relatively inexpensive- Lifebouy, SafeGuard,
Zest, Ivory, etc. kind of soaps- nothing fancy, please.

Can anyone help me with a recommendation???

we use palmolive gold deodorant soap(didnt see that one on your list).
i rarely take a bath(a shower fan here, lol), only if i'm freeeeezing beyond
hope in winter and just cannot get warm at all. then its such a hot bath
nothing would stick.
i dont know if that one will leave any residue on the bath. fwiw.

Since I clean bathrooms here I buy regular old Zest. I did buy the
white ones for awhile but can't find them either. Old Zest works
for us. There is a new blue one that doesn't work for me so it is
back to the old one the old one.
If I go to the Smart and Final (small warehouse type store) I can
get American or Mexican zest. They appear the same but one is actually
made in Mexico. Go figure.

I'm allergic to most of the deordorant soaps/perfumes/etc. I use plain
old Ivory bar soap. If I switch to a liquid soap from time to time, I
use Dr. Bronner's liquid Castile soap (peppermint or almond), or
Neutrogena Rainwater Bath Gel (just a little bit goes a long way!)

I can't help you with a suggestion, because I primarily use French soaps
that I buy at a little shop nearby, however, I do want to tell you I totally
get what you're talking about regarding the "moisturizing" bars of soap.
All the Determologists I have ever seen recommend Dove, but I hate the
slimey, scummy feel of it. DH uses it - I use the French soaps - which I
stop up on at their annual soap sale & because it's so well made, it lasts
at least twice as long as DH's Dove does, so it's quite the bargain IMNSHO!
When I was away at retreat last month, I did have to buy grocery store soap,
because I don't like those little tiny soaps they put in the rooms & I got
Oil of Olay at the store. It seemed to be pretty nice & didn't leave that
film on me or the shower & it is widely available at grocery & drug stores,
so I guess I do have a suggetion for you after all! Good luck on your

I don't think you can get unscented Toms of Maine in Wally World, but
that's what the sweetie uses. I had to put a soap dish stuck to the wall
to prevent issues of scum from the part of the tub where he kept the bar.

Rather than changing soaps, you might want to consider investing in an
automatic shower cleaner. It works very well:

Have you tried just using an inexpensis shampoo? I've been using Suave
shampoos as body wash for years. If it gets too drying in winter, I add
about a tbsp glycerine to a 16 oz bottle.

Try ours. After years of using fine soaps and spending lots of money at the
dermatologists and allergists - and! having hives and miserable itching, DH
and I starting using the cheapest one made. It pretty much doesn't contain
anything. Our soap brand name is Captiva cocoa butter soap. Captiva is
made in Canada and is only sold at the really good cheap places like the
Dollar Store and Fred's.
We may never know what special ingredient in expensive soap was trying
to kill us, or at least make us miserable. Don't care.
For cleaning the tub, I just use whatever shampoo I've bought that we
didn't really like. They're good for taking down soap scum without taking
away the skin on your hands. Smell nice too.
