Default I'm Home!!!

Got home a little while ago. DD and I left for Pittsburgh on April 1 (my
birthday). Friday, April 2 we were at the University of Pittsburgh for a
session on their honors college. That evening we met up with one of my
sorority sisters and went to the Waterfront front for dinner and shopping
(no quilt shops). Saturday, we spent the day at the University in the
sessions for the the Accepted Students. DD decided we should go back to the
room early so she could take a nap. I fell asleep for a little while and
then called the Quilting Company to get directions over there. Easy enough
for me to get there, getting home was another story. I bought 2 patterns and
got 5 different black and white flannels so I can make me a black and white
Stack It, Whack It and Shuffle the Deck as soon as I finish all the
graduation quilts and a raffle quilt. Sunday, we went to the outlet stores
(again easy for me to get there, goofed up getting back). We shopped and
froze our little buns off. It was snowing and being a Southern CA girl, this
is not my type of weather. Monday, DD went exploring by herself. I met up
with our own Mickie Swall and off we went. After we got lost and ended up in
Ohio (are you sensing that there is a pattern here?), we went to see Carol
(Mickie, help me out here, can't remember her last name, have not yet
unpacked to find the ruler with her name on it), who has won numerous awards
for her long arm quilting. Her work is a real mind blower. Then we hit 3
quilt shops. I found another black and white flannel and some wonderful
Judaica fabric. Mickie and I had a great time. She has some of the most
wonderful quilts hanging on her walls and on her floor at home. She realized
that we forgot to get pictures. My DD had called and asked me to get her a
chocolate chip cookie on my way home. Mickie told me where I could get one,
and she was going to meet me so we could take pictures, but I could not find
the place. I turned around and tried it again, but alas, no luck, so off I
went back to the hotel, and of course, messed up and did not take the right
exit! Tuesday (yesterday) DD and I had to go back to the mall since she
sales lady gave her the wrong powder. We also had to get an extra piece of
luggage to get everything home. Then off to a hotel closer to the airport
and get rid of the rental car. You guessed it, got to the mall with no
problems, messed up getting on the correct freeway back to the airport.
Somehow, I managed to guess my way back and off we went. Last night, the ex
made reservations for DD to go directly from our flight into LAX up to
Oakland so she can check out UC Berekely. I got my car, did NOT get lost
getting back, got my sewing machine from the doctor's, my QI from the
kennel, my son from his dad's, left DD's suitcase at her dad's and managed
to make it home in one piece and check out the NG messages.

Nice to be home, and can't wait to get back to my quilts.

Golly Debbi, all that getting lost must take a lot of energy
Never a doubt in my mind that Mickie's work in wonderful. Must
be fun to see it in person and meet her.
Glad you are home safe. Happy Birthday a tad late.
