Made some carving knives once from some large concrete nails by
heating, shaping to the shapes I wanted, cleaned them off and reheated
to a blue color and quenched them in cool water. Never had to sharpen
them very often. I then epoxied them into a piece of 5/8 dowel fo a
handle.
