Default Breaking thread on loom

I'm using a 80/20 cotton as warp and am breaking the threads from
each
side. Any suggestions? Many thanks.

The middle threads don't break, so presumably the tension is correct.
Less force applied when throwing the shuttle?
Or don't tighten it as much when beating it in?

Or perhaps a floating selvedge on each side?
